NYSDOT Salt Storage Building – Chatham, NY

December 13, 2023

This contract with NYSOGS was for the demolition of an existing salt storage structure, installation of a site drainage system, and construction of a new pole barn salt storage structure at the NYSDOT facility on Rt 203 in Chatham, NY. The existing storage structure was demolished by removing the canvas covered steel superstructure, pulverizing the concrete walls, and hammering the concrete footings. This area was backfilled with type 2 subbase and compacted, giving the DOT a storage area. A new drainage system consisting of 30” HDPE pipe and 5 precast concrete drainage structures were installed to keep the new building area dry and prepare for a future building project. A new 72’ x 128’ high arch gambrel salt storage building was built by Park Lane Construction Inc. of Clyde, NY. The interior and entrance way to the building was paved using a 3-course heavy duty asphalt section. This project was managed by Tom Petersen & Rian Baker and the Field Superintendent was Tom Petersen Jr. This project was valued at $ 2,065,990.
